We were dropped off near our hotel and checked into Osaka Daiichi Hotel which is in the Umeda District. It is an ok hotel for 12,000 a night since its location is excellent, but the beds and pillows were ROCK hard, and rooms tiny and old. For a lot less money you could have a similar experience with the Toyoko Inns, and they also offer free brekkie and internet use.
For our first night of dinner we decided we would just grab some random things as we got to the hotel quite late (around 8pm). We found a supermarket type place and grabbed some sushi, curry buns, cake and drinks. Of course like all Japanese department store food court or supermarkety meals the food was still amazing. Why don't they have these places in Australia!!
We were tired from the long flight, and from overeating - so our heads hit the rock hard pillows and that was the end of day one.
Getting from the Airport to central Osaka:
We caught the Limo Bus from Kansai Airport. Once you are at the ground floor of the airport there is either a counter where you can buy tickets, or ticket machines out the front near the bus stops (they have an english option on the machines). For our destination (Umeda) we caught the limo bus from Bus Stop No. 5 (KIX - Shin-Umeda City bus). The bus leaves every 20 minutes, and takes 50 - 95 minutes to get to its drop off points (60 minutes for us to Umeda). It costs ¥1,500 per person.
