Vietnam - Nha Trang Parasailing

Sheraton private beach area

Our second day in Nha Trang started off quite peaceful, until my friend announced she was making us go parasailing. I have never done this before, and although would love to in most circumstances, was a bit wary of doing it in Vietnam (where safety usually equals zero). Not wanting to be a party pooper I agreed and we booked through the Sheraton where one of the reservation girls accompanied us during the entire thing to ensure we were taken care of/to translate (impressive). We also asked if she could take a few shots for us to which she agreed so great service from the Sheraton!

The preparation for gearing us up seemed to go by in a second and before I knew it the jet boat started speeding off and we were yanked into the air. After screaming for the first few seconds I realised it was actually not frightening at all. It was probably more frightening for those left on the beach with a view of my harness wedgie. We were up for about 10 minutes or more, in which they dunked us in the water once which was fun. Landing was probably the scariest part but didn't end up being bad either. All in all great fun!

    Hi there!

I'm planning on visiting Vietnam and backpack throughout..How much did you pay for parasailing? Were there a lot of illegal beach operators providing activities without insurance?

Btw, I love your blog! :)

  2. Hi Leena!

We went tandem and I am not sure how much it cost but it would have probably been a bit over 500,00VND (25usd) from the Sheraton activities desk.

I am quite sure most of the beach operators there operate without insurance, with most activities in all of Vietnam it is worth being wary as there doesn't seem to be much or any regulation. I would try booking through reputable hotels/resorts or have your travel insurance cover water sports.

Thanks for liking my blog! I rarely get any comments or questions (but can see the views) so you have motivated me to post some more of my trips :)
